Plumbing Inspection in Akron, PA
Only 12% of the people who own a home in Akron bought it in 2018 or later. Where houses stay in the same hands, systems get older without anybody being obliged to look at them.
The one-paragraph answer
Akron is settled, with 12% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

When Akron moved in
A settled town accumulates deferred questions. Nobody has been obliged to look, so nobody has, and the first person to find out is often whoever is selling.
| Owner households in Akron | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 5% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 7% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 30% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 59% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 1,958 occupied housing units, of which 1,231 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Water conditioning systems are excluded by ASHI outright, along with lawn irrigation, fire suppression and clothes washer connections. None of that is an inspector cutting corners; it is the published boundary of the service.

What it is required to cover
Sump pumps are in scope on both standards — InterNACHI for drainage pumps with an accessible float, ASHI for sewage ejectors and sump pumps. Accessible is the whole qualifier. A float nobody can reach is not a float anybody tested.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
Where a report says a condition was observed but its extent could not be established, that is the sentence to act on. It means the boundary of the inspection was reached, not that the problem is small.
Ten minutes of reading covers it: what nobody was required to look at, what they were, and the drain run that is a separate instruction altogether.

Checking a plumber in Pennsylvania
Checking a credential in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania has no state license for plumbers. Its Department of Labor and Industry states it has no jurisdiction and keeps no records of which municipalities require one, so the only reliable answer is your own city or township. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
Inspection report in front of you?Read us the plumbing lines and nothing else — we do not want the document. We will route you to a contractor covering your area who can quote the items on it, and you are never charged by us. Not only inspection items: Akron gets routed whatever is needed.
