Plumbing Inspection in Tillson, NY

Tillson is settled. Only 8% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later, which means most of the plumbing here has not been looked at by anybody in a long time.

The one-paragraph answer

Tillson is settled, with 8% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When Tillson moved in

In a town this settled the report is likelier to matter to a seller than a buyer. Knowing what is there before somebody else looks is the whole of the advantage.

Universe: 652 occupied housing units, of which 474 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

Both standards exclude septic and other sewage disposal or wastewater treatment systems. The inspector confirms that the fixtures drain; the run leaving the building is not part of the job, and it is the most expensive thing on a property to be wrong about.

What it is required to cover

The fixtures are a live test rather than a look. InterNACHI requires the inspector to run the water at every faucet, flush every toilet, and check that every sink, tub and shower drains; ASHI requires functional flow and functional drainage. If a fault shows up in ordinary use, this is the part of the inspection that finds it.

What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.

What to do about it

If you are selling, establish it before somebody else does. The same finding is worth more to a buyer who discovered it than to one who was told.

The published standards settle most arguments: excluded, covered, and the separate instruction for everything past the building.

New York issues no state plumbing license. New York City licenses Master and Journeyman Plumbers through the Department of Buildings; elsewhere in the state it is your own city, town or county. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
