Plumbing Inspection in Franklin Square, NY

Franklin Square rarely changes hands — 12% of owner households arrived in 2018 or later. The upside is stability. The other side of it is that nothing has triggered an inspection in most of these houses for years.

The one-paragraph answer

Homes in Franklin Square rarely change hands — only 12% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later — so an inspection there is usually of a house somebody has lived in for years. The buried sewer lateral is still outside both published standards of practice.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When Franklin Square moved in

Where houses stay put, an inspection is a rare event, and the report on file — if there is one — describes a building that has since had a decade or more of ordinary use.

This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

Clothes washer connections are excluded, which surprises people because the machine is in the house and plumbed into it. The supply valves behind it and the standpipe it drains into were not part of the job.

What it is required to cover

The water heater is covered in more detail than most of the system: InterNACHI takes in the energy source, the venting connections, the temperature and pressure-relief valve, seismic bracing where it applies, and the labeled capacity. What it stops short of is operating any of it.

The full covered list, and why the distinction between the two lists is the whole of reading a report properly.

What to do about it

Write down where the main water shut-off and the main fuel shut-off are. InterNACHI requires both locations to be described, and they are the two most useful lines in the document.

Everything above comes from documents you can read yourself: the exclusions, the requirements, and why a camera down the lateral is never part of it.

Checking a credential in New York

New York issues no state plumbing license. New York City licenses Master and Journeyman Plumbers through the Department of Buildings; elsewhere in the state it is your own city, town or county. Start here. Ask the contractor which municipality licenses them and confirm it with that office before work begins.
