Plumbing Inspection in Stockholm, NJ

When Stockholm moved in
The consequence of a low turnover figure is not that the housing is worse. It is that far fewer people here have ever had a third party examine their plumbing, and the ones who did, did it a long time ago.

What the inspection will not cover
Visual means visual. Pipe inside a wall, under a slab or below grade is not observed, and neither standard asks anyone to open a sealed access panel to reach it. InterNACHI names polybutylene piping in its exclusions outright.

What it is required to cover
InterNACHI requires the location of the main water shut-off and the main fuel shut-off to be described, and whether the supply is public or private. Those are the three lines worth copying out of the report on the day you get it, because nobody looks them up until they are standing in water.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
Read the exclusions in your own report before the findings. The findings say what was looked at; the exclusions say what you still do not know, and only one of those two lists gets attention.
