Plumbing Inspection in Lilesville, NC
Lilesville rarely changes hands — 10% of owner households arrived in 2018 or later. The upside is stability. The other side of it is that nothing has triggered an inspection in most of these houses for years.
The one-paragraph answer
Lilesville is settled, with 10% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

When Lilesville moved in
A settled town accumulates deferred questions. Nobody has been obliged to look, so nobody has, and the first person to find out is often whoever is selling.
| Owner households in Lilesville | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | under 1% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 10% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 15% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 75% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 824 occupied housing units, of which 570 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Both standards state that an inspection is not technically exhaustive and covers readily accessible, visually observable systems. That sentence is not a disclaimer at the end of the report. It is the definition of what was bought.

What it is required to cover
The covered list is shorter than the excluded one and it is not thin. Every fixture run, every toilet flushed, the drain-waste-vent system described, the water heater and its venting examined, the shut-offs located. That is a real morning of work and it is worth knowing it happened.
The rest of what an inspector must do is set out here. It is shorter than the excluded list and it is the half that tells you what a finding is worth.
What to do about it
Write down where the main water shut-off and the main fuel shut-off are. InterNACHI requires both locations to be described, and they are the two most useful lines in the document.
The two standards are published in full and worth ten minutes: what is excluded, what is covered, and why the drains outside the house are a separate instruction.
