Plumbing Inspection in Belmont, NC
In Belmont, 30% of owner households arrived in 2018 or later — a high rate, and one that means a large share of the housing has been through an inspection recently enough for somebody to remember it.
The one-paragraph answer
In Belmont, where 30% of owners bought in 2018 or later, a great many homes have been inspected recently. A standard inspection looks at what can be seen and operated; the drain line under the garden is outside its published scope and needs a camera survey.

When Belmont moved in
Where houses move this often, inspections are a familiar part of the process and the risk shifts. It stops being whether one was done and becomes whether anyone understood what it was not required to cover.
| Owner households in Belmont | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 6% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 24% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 28% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 42% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 10,969 occupied housing units, of which 7,513 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Clothes washer connections are excluded, which surprises people because the machine is in the house and plumbed into it. The supply valves behind it and the standpipe it drains into were not part of the job.

What it is required to cover
ASHI requires the energy source and vent system of the water heating equipment to be covered, and InterNACHI requires the same ground from the other direction. Where the two standards overlap is the part of the report you can rely on whichever association the inspector belongs to.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
If you are selling, establish it before somebody else does. The same finding is worth more to a buyer who discovered it than to one who was told.
Before you accept a report, read what it did not have to cover against what it did. Then decide whether the drains outside need their own visit.

Inspection report in front of you?Read us the plumbing lines and nothing else — we do not want the document. We will route you to a contractor covering your area who can quote the items on it, and you are never charged by us. We take Belmont requests that never appeared on any inspection.
