Plumbing Inspection in Hydes, MD
Hydes is settled. Only 11% of owner households moved in during 2018 or later, which means most of the plumbing here has not been looked at by anybody in a long time.
The one-paragraph answer
Hydes is settled, with 11% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

When Hydes moved in
Low turnover means the last inspection on most of these houses is old, and the systems in them have had years to change since. Nothing about a settled town makes plumbing age more slowly.
| Owner households in Hydes | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 11% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 0% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 21% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 67% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 227 occupied housing units, of which 214 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
The water heater is covered in some detail by both standards — and InterNACHI is equally explicit that nobody is required to measure its capacity, temperature or adequacy, or to test the relief valve. It is looked at, not operated.

What it is required to cover
Sump pumps are in scope on both standards — InterNACHI for drainage pumps with an accessible float, ASHI for sewage ejectors and sump pumps. Accessible is the whole qualifier. A float nobody can reach is not a float anybody tested.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
Where a report says a condition was observed but its extent could not be established, that is the sentence to act on. It means the boundary of the inspection was reached, not that the problem is small.
The two standards are published in full and worth ten minutes: what is excluded, what is covered, and why the drains outside the house are a separate instruction.
