Plumbing Inspection in Neon, KY
Neon rarely changes hands — 3% of owner households arrived in 2018 or later. The upside is stability. The other side of it is that nothing has triggered an inspection in most of these houses for years.
The one-paragraph answer
Neon is settled, with 3% of owner households having moved in since 2018. The plumbing most likely to matter in a house held that long is the part no standard inspection covers, which is the buried sewer lateral.

When Neon moved in
A settled town accumulates deferred questions. Nobody has been obliged to look, so nobody has, and the first person to find out is often whoever is selling.
| Owner households in Neon | Share of all owners |
|---|---|
| Moved in 2021 or later | 0% |
| Moved in 2018–2020 | 3% |
| Moved in 2010–2017 | 43% |
| Moved in before 2010 | 54% |
Source: US Census Bureau, American Community Survey 5-year estimates, table B25038 (tenure by year householder moved into unit), 2023 release. Universe: 354 occupied housing units, of which 291 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.
What the inspection will not cover
Visual means visual. Pipe inside a wall, under a slab or below grade is not observed, and neither standard asks anyone to open a sealed access panel to reach it. InterNACHI names polybutylene piping in its exclusions outright.

What it is required to cover
ASHI requires the energy source and vent system of the water heating equipment to be covered, and InterNACHI requires the same ground from the other direction. Where the two standards overlap is the part of the report you can rely on whichever association the inspector belongs to.
What is actually covered — because silence in a report means one thing about a covered system and something completely different about an excluded one.
What to do about it
Ask a contractor what would have to be opened up to answer the question, rather than asking for a number. A quote given without that step is a guess with a figure attached to it.
Before you accept a report, read what it did not have to cover against what it did. Then decide whether the drains outside need their own visit.

Inspection report in front of you?Read us the plumbing lines and nothing else — we do not want the document. We will route you to a contractor covering your area who can quote the items on it, and you are never charged by us. We take Neon requests that never appeared on any inspection.
