Plumbing Inspection in Lisle, IL

25% of owner-occupied homes in Lisle have changed hands since 2018. That is an ordinary rate, which makes the ordinary mistake more likely: assuming the inspection covered the plumbing.

The one-paragraph answer

Turnover in Lisle sits near the middle, with 25% of owner households arriving in 2018 or later. The figure that actually matters is in the standards of practice: a home inspection covers what is visible and operable, and the buried sewer lateral is not.

PresalePipe is a referral service, not a contractor or a home inspector. We connect homeowners and buyers with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no inspections and no work, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

When Lisle moved in

Enough houses change hands here for inspections to be routine, which tends to make people incurious about them. The scope is where the surprises are, and it is published rather than hidden.

Universe: 12,702 occupied housing units, of which 7,147 are owner-occupied. This counts when the CURRENT occupant moved in, so it measures recent moves as a share of the housing stock — not a rate of sales per year.

What the inspection will not cover

The water heater is covered in some detail by both standards — and InterNACHI is equally explicit that nobody is required to measure its capacity, temperature or adequacy, or to test the relief valve. It is looked at, not operated.

What it is required to cover

The fixtures are a live test rather than a look. InterNACHI requires the inspector to run the water at every faucet, flush every toilet, and check that every sink, tub and shower drains; ASHI requires functional flow and functional drainage. If a fault shows up in ordinary use, this is the part of the inspection that finds it.

The full list of obligations is published here. Reading it once is what stops a standard note from looking like a finding.

What to do about it

Where a report says a condition was observed but its extent could not be established, that is the sentence to act on. It means the boundary of the inspection was reached, not that the problem is small.

The published standards settle most arguments: excluded, covered, and the separate instruction for everything past the building.
